Welcome to the Back Room. This is the place for us to exchange information. It isn't intended to be a simple place for individual issue and meeting reports. That's what newspapers are for.
This place is designed to be informative and entertaining. Years of public issue involvement has created a significant body of background on current front page stories. The key to understanding today's actions is to understand some of the history. There also needs to be a connection involving seemingly separate bits of information. That type of narrative is what you will find here.
New meeting stories, background data and special issue reports will be added regularly. Some large with extensive research. Some with serious public policy impact. There will also be those little informative but fun accounts of people just being people. Who can resist a little article about the public official that will say something so outrageous you can only laugh.
This site will give information. It will provide links to supporting documents. There will be audio to make sure there is no misunderstanding of statements. It will empower you to understand what public issues are being discussed by providing some additional background information. When I am giving an opinion, I'll tell you.
We are making the site user friendly and interactive. Active word search capability and table of contents should help you find the information you want and need. (A search hint: The search function lists all pages where your query is found. Use your browser's "edit/find" toolbar function to specifically locate the query on each page.)
Every subscriber will be encouraged to ask questions directly. There is also an opportunity to suggest topics of interest for special reports. Some responses may be personal, others will be features for everyone. When new items are posted you can be notified by email. Here is all it takes to contact me directly. fred@fredblackmer.com
I believe in a single strategy for creating responsive officials and good public policy. That strategy is an informed public. When the public has accurate information they will demand that their elected officials use fact and reason to make good decisions. It is as simple as that.
We hope you enjoy using the site as much as we do in bringing it to you.

Fred
